Single?Site vs. Cluster Catalysis in High Temperature Oxidations

چکیده

The behavior of single Pt atoms and small clusters was investigated for high-temperature oxidations. high stability these molecular sites in CHA is a key to intrinsic structure-performance descriptions elemental steps such as O2 dissociation, subsequent oxidation catalysis. Subtle changes the atomic structure are responsible drastic performance driven by specific gas/metal/support interactions. Whereas (> ca. 1?nm) unable activate, scramble, desorb two molecules at moderate T (200?°C), <1?nm do so catalytically, but undergo oxidative fragmentation. Oxidation alkanes attributed stable atoms, C-H cleavage inferred be rate-determining less sensitive metal nuclearity compared its effect on scrambling. In contrast, when combustion involves CO, catalysis dominated clusters, not atoms.

High temperature catalysis: fundamentals and applications

High-temperature catalysis is discussed from several view points: experimental studies, development of heterogeneous reactions mechanisms, CFD simulations, experimental model evaluation, and technical applications. Applications cover synthesis of basic chemicals and hydrogen, and high-temperature fuel cells using the following examples: (1) Catalytic partial oxidation of natural gas, higher alk...

On Biological Oxidations as Function of Temperature

1. The critical thermal increments are calculated for respiratory processes (O(2) consumption, CO(2) production) in various plants and animals. They are characteristically found to be of two, possibly three, types: micro = 11,500, and 16,100 or 16,700. The first is commonly encountered above 15 degrees , the second below that temperature, but these relations may be reversed. (The value of micro...

REACTORS, KINETICS, AND CATALYSIS Quantifying Rate Enhancements for Acid Catalysis in CO2-Enriched High-Temperature Water

Thermodynamic calculations revealed that 10 to 100-fold increases in reaction rate are obtainable with added CO2 (0.1–1 MPa) for an acid-catalyzed reaction in hightemperature liquid water (HTW) that is first order in H concentration. These calculations suggest that CO2 is most effective as a rate-enhancing additive in HTW at lower temperatures (150–2008C). When compared with increased temperatu...

The Cluster Temperature Function at High Redshift

We take advantage of the biggest cosmological simulation to date for a critical CDM universe in order to test robustness of the cluster mass function on a range of masses much wider than tested before. On the high mass end our results show an excess of hot clusters and a milder evolution compared to the analytical predictions based on the Press & Schechter formula. These features must be proper...

Spatially confined catalysis-enhanced high-temperature carbon dioxide electrolysis.

In this study, a potential ilmenite cathode material Ni0.9TiO3 is designed for efficient CO2 electrolysis in an oxide-ion-conducting solid-oxide electrolyzer. Spatially confined catalysis has been successfully achieved to substantially improve cathode activity by in situ growth of catalytically active nickel nanoparticles on a ceramic skeleton. The combined analysis of XRD, SEM, EDS, XPS, TGA a...
